The Mind vs. The Brain

BIBLE MEDITATION
..."Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
…Did you know there is a difference between your mind and your brain? The brain is what the mind thinks with. The relationship of the mind and the brain is very similar to the relationship of a pianist and a piano. The piano is the brain and the pianist is the mind. The most dangerous thing in the world is a man with a bad mind and a good brain. He is a clever devil. When you get saved, you don't get a new brain. You get a new mind. And the god of this world will do all he can to distort your mind. Why? Because Proverbs 23:7 says, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."

ACTION POINT
…Dwell today on the true, the honest, the just, the pure, the lovely--think on virtue and praise. Pray for missionaries serving the Lord in other countries--that they will dwell on the truths of the Lord and that their walks will be strong and undeterred from the Lord's mission.

Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus

BIBLE MEDITATION

..."And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God." Mark 11:22

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

I ask some Christians, "How are you doing?" They say, "Okay--under the circumstances." How did you ever get there? Circumstances are like a mattress. You're supposed to be on it, not under it. Under the circumstances, you suffocate; on them you rest pretty well. The only way you can run the race is to take your eyes off things or people around you and look to Jesus. He's the author of the race. He's the goal to which you run. If you look to Jesus to supply your every need for the race, you'll find faith growing in your heart and in your life. You see, it's not great faith in God; it is faith in a great God.

ACTION POINT

Do you have a hymnal in your home? Find the hymn "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus" by Helen Lemmel and make it your anthem today!

SYMPATHY

...Our deepest sympathies goes out to the family of Randy & Janie Shamblin due to the home-going of Randy’s father, William “Bill” Shamblin who went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. There was a celebration of his life on Saturday, May 19, 2012  at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home.

He Has Overcome the World

BIBLE MEDITATION
..."In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT
…The will of God will never take you where the grace of God cannot keep you. His power is ever-present in your life as His child. If I could have been there in the days of His flesh, I would have wanted to see Him walk across the sea and calm the waves. I can just see that kingly form with the wind in His hair, putting His foot steps on the sea, His garments billowing back. Smiling at the storm. When the disciples saw Him walking on the water what was their biggest problem? The water. Jesus, in essence, was saying, "What looks like is going to be over your head, is already under My feet."

ACTION POINT
…What are some problems that are drowning you in fear, in discouragement, in sadness today? Give them to Jesus. Remember what is over your head is under His feet.

MOTHER’S DAY
Thessalonians 2: 7-8

Mothers Who Love

On this day we honor mother, its good for us to think about how much you really do. Being a mother is not a walk in the park…

By the time a child reaches 18, a mother has had to handle some extra 18,000 hours of child-generated work. In fact, women who never have children enjoy equivalent of an extra three months a year in leisure time!

A Junior High science teacher lectured on the properties of magnets for an entire class. The next day he gave his students a quiz. The first question read like this: “My name begins with an “M”, has six letters, and I pick things up. What am I?” Half the kids in the class wrote, “Mother.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson has said, “Men are what their mothers make them” and an old Spanish proverb says, “An ounce of mother is worth a pound of clergy.”
